During the Union for the Mediterranean’s session on finance and innovation as Sustainable Blue Economy accelerators, held within the Mediterranean Day at the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France, the Mediterranean cluster community came together to shape a more inclusive and resilient future.

CallMeBlue was proudly represented by: Laurence Martin – Secretary-General, Federazione del Mare (Italy),  Ziad Nesrine – Co-founder, Leancubator (Algeria) and Emna Sohlobji – President, Tunisian Maritime Cluster.

Their collective voice sent a powerful message: clusters are not just support structures, they are transformation engines. Key takeaways from their interventions:

  •  Clusters serve as ecosystem orchestrators, connecting startups, researchers, industry and institutions.
  • They bridge gaps, turning innovation into action through structured cooperation and territorial anchoring.
  •  Empowered clusters can accelerate the scaling of blue skills, sustainable technologies, and investment-readiness across the region.

From across the med, the CallMeBlue vision of a connected, inclusive, and innovation-driven Mediterranean was clearly embodied.

To build a thriving Sustainable Blue Economy, we must strengthen clusters as platforms of dialogue, growth, and collective intelligence.

Special thanks to the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) for convening this high-level dialogue and offering a stage to amplify cluster voices across the region.
