One important element in the closing phase of the CALLMEBLUE - Cluster Alliance Med Blue project has been the discussion on the Action Plan for future Maritime Clusters Cooperation, new cooperation opportunities designed as the continuity framework to sustain and scale the results achieved.
Positioned as a forward-looking framework, this fruitful discussion moves beyond project implementation and outlines how cooperation among Mediterranean maritime clusters can evolve into a structured, long-term ecosystem under the WestMED Cluster Alliance+ (WMCA+).
The discussion focused on:
- Institutionalising structured service-sharing across clusters
- Improving interoperability of innovation, incubation, investment and internationalisation services
- Reinforcing North–South integration within the Mediterranean basin
- Aligning cluster cooperation with Westmed and UfM priorities and broader EU–Africa dynamics
- Exploring joint positioning for follow-up funding and strategic scaling
The objective is not to close a chapter but to ensure continuity, transitioning from project-based collaboration to ecosystem-structured interregional cooperation.
The action plan discussed for the regional cooperation and new opportunities of collaboration lays the groundwork for a sustainable Mediterranean maritime cluster alliance capable of delivering long-term value for coastal economies and the wider blue economy.
