On October 14, the Tunisian Maritime Cluster organized a matchmaking workshop focused on the role of maritime clusters as catalysts in the development of blue economy sectors. This event provided cluster members with the opportunity to share their perspectives and discuss the current challenges faced by various maritime sectors in Tunisia. The workshop also highlighted the growing importance of the Tunisian Maritime Cluster in promoting and structuring a sustainable and innovative blue economy.
Among the participants were many leading public stakeholders, including representatives from the General Secretariat of Maritime Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of Transport, as well as international partners such as the Delegation of the European Union in Tunisia, the Federazione del Mare, and WestMed. This collaborative framework strengthened exchanges between the public and private sectors, fostering an integrated and sustainable approach to the development of the blue economy.
A key highlight of the workshop was the emphasis on the initiatives of the Tunisian Maritime Cluster aimed at supporting youth, notably through a mentoring program and professional immersions in maritime professions. This innovative approach is based on the concept of "laboratory companies," offering young people the opportunity to develop practical skills while exploring sustainable solutions alongside cluster members. By encouraging entrepreneurial spirit, strengthening technical skills, and integrating digitalization, this approach contributes to forming a new generation ready to build a resilient and creative blue economy.
The workshop also underscored the importance of enhancing training for maritime professions to meet the growing needs of the maritime sector for qualified skills. By multiplying training and specialization initiatives, the Tunisian Maritime Cluster aims to effectively support youth and strengthen the foundations of a sustainable maritime sector at the forefront of technological and environmental innovations.
As part of its efforts to enhance its communication in the maritime field, the Tunisian Maritime Cluster announced the launch, starting in 2025, of a scientific journal dedicated to maritime topics. This publication aims to become a reference platform for research, innovation, and knowledge sharing around maritime challenges and the blue economy in Tunisia and beyond.
